A Stunning Maternity Session, Just in Time

I'm thrilled to share highlights from a recent maternity session that turned out to be perfectly timed—just in the nick of time, actually! This beautiful mom-to-be came in glowing with excitement, unknowingly just weeks away from welcoming her daughter far earlier than expected. At only 3.5 pounds, their baby girl made her surprise entrance into the world two months early. We're so thankful we had the chance to document this special chapter before her early arrival!

This maternity session took place at our professional photography studio in the Boston area, where we had the perfect setup to keep things relaxed, cozy, and creative. Mom brought two very different looks to her session: a dreamy, frilly pink maternity gown that looked like it belonged in a fairytale, and a casual but stylish outfit of ripped jeans paired with a simple top. The variety gave us a wide range of moods and vibes to work with, from soft and ethereal to strong and modern. It's always a good idea to bring a few outfit options to your maternity shoot, and this session is the perfect example of how well that can work!

We started with the pink gown, which flowed beautifully in front of our light-toned backdrop. Soft lighting highlighted her baby bump, and the ruffles of the dress gave the images a romantic, timeless quality. It was a gorgeous nod to the little girl on the way, without knowing just how soon she’d be arriving!

After that, we transitioned into her casual look. The ripped jeans gave the session a totally different energy—cool, confident, and a little edgy. These images captured her strength and personality in a whole new way. It’s so important that your maternity session reflect who you are, and this mom did exactly that. Every photo spoke to her story and her excitement about meeting her daughter.

The love between this growing family was so evident, and I know these images will be cherished for years to come—not just by mom and dad, but by their daughter too, when she’s old enough to understand how loved and celebrated she was, even before birth.

As a Boston maternity photographer, one of my favorite things about what I do is being able to freeze time. Pregnancy is such a fleeting season, and in this case, it was even shorter than expected. I'm so glad we got the chance to capture these memories, especially knowing how soon their little girl decided to make her grand entrance.
