As a Boston-based newborn photographer, I’m lucky to meet so many incredible families during one of the most meaningful times in their lives. Recently, I had the honor of welcoming a very special baby girl into my studio for her newborn portrait session. I had photographed her Norwood based parents’ maternity session just a few months earlier, and their excitement was unforgettable. They were eagerly awaiting their baby’s arrival — but she surprised everyone by showing up nearly two months early.

Born weighing just under 3 pounds, this little one entered the world with an incredible fighting spirit. By the time we met again for her newborn portraits, she was 2 months old and thriving. Although slightly older than the typical newborn photography window, she was a dream to photograph. We captured a mix of sleepy snuggles and wide-awake moments, and her bright, expressive eyes absolutely stole the show.

Her parents chose a soft and elegant color palette for the session: creams, blush pinks, yellows, and blues. I absolutely loved their choices. I’m especially fond of photographing girls in blue — it’s timeless, unexpected, and works beautifully with so many skin tones. Yellow, too, is a color I wish more families would request. It brought a warmth and glow to her portraits that was both fresh and classic.

Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. Every baby has their own story, and this one had already shown so much strength, resilience, and personality in just a few short weeks. It was a true privilege to capture these early memories for her family.

To her parents, thank you for returning to my studio and trusting me to photograph another chapter of your journey. Watching your love grow from maternity to newborn portraits has been such a joy, and your daughter is clearly already surrounded by so much love.
