Questions Parents Actually Ask

(And a few they don’t… but should)

Babies run the show here. We take breaks, feed, cuddle, and move at your baby’s pace. Try to trust the process (and your photographer) and remember that some of the sweetest images come from those in-between moments.

You supply the babies and I’ll take care of the rest. 🙂 For newborn sessions please bring nourishment: the studio has a bottle warmer and a fridge for pumped breast milk. For tired parents and children of all ages, I have a Keurig, cold drinks, and snacks. If you have a family heirloom you’d like included in the session I will happily consider its inclusion. For newborns I have a studio filled with bonnets, outfits, headbands, and sets. For 1-2 year olds I have a limited supply of clothing options, many which match my backdrops and sets. For maternity sessions, I have a selection of dresses and outfits you’re welcome to use. For all ages, what I do strongly recommend NOT BRINGING is your cell phone, which creates unflattering stares on your children!

Yes, when done correctly. Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I’m trained in newborn safety and handling and every pose is done gently and with care, following the lead of your infant.

Not at all. My Boston newborn photography sessions are designed to feel calm, gentle, and joyful. I understand how much you’re carrying as a new or expectant mom and I guide you through every step so you can simply be present and enjoy the experience, even if you’re running on very little sleep.

Sessions are unhurried and baby-led. Standard newborn sessions last 4 hours with plenty of time for feedings and changes. The wrapped newborn sessions last 90 minutes. All other sessions take 1-2 hours.

You’ll either visit the studio or meet with me via a personal google meet call to review your images. I’ll guide you through selecting your favorite portraits and artwork for your home. As a Boston newborn and family photographer, I believe children grow up feeling confident and loved when they see themselves reflected in their family’s story displayed on the walls and tables of their home.

Please don’t. This moment- right now- is the one you’ll want back someday and
time won’t slow down the growth of your little one(s). Parents of newborns tell me all the time that the few weeks between their session day and when they view their images has been enough time for their baby to completely change. Your baby won’t notice your hair, makeup, or those few extra pounds that most of us carry…. But they will see how loved they were in your images.

In order to provide stellar customer service and imagery, I limit the number of sessions I book monthly. It is, therefore, never too early to book. Booking can
easily be accomplished online and requires session fee payment, a contract, and filling out a questionnaire. Simply let Laura know you want to work together and she will send a link to all these booking items.

Because these moments are fleeting and they matter. As a mother myself, I know how quickly the tiny details fade: the curl of newborn fingers, the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms, the pride and tenderness you feel but may not yet have words for. As a Boston baby photographer, my goal is to preserve those emotions so you can hold onto them forever.

Experience, yes, but also perspective. I have had the honor of being a professional photographer for over 25 years and the joy of raising 2 children of my own. As a photographer and a mom, I understand how fleeting this stage is. My job isn’t just to take pictures: it’s to make sure you have stunning moments to treasure forever of each milestone moment. Whenever possible I suggest doing your newborn session prior to the circumcision. If not possible, please book 4-5 days after the surgery so there isn’t discomfort.
